TWO-WAY INTERCOM AND SIGNALING USES CCTV CAMERA COAX.

FM SYSTEMS, INC. Santa Ana CA. has developed an intercom and signaling product that uses the existing coax in any CCTV installation for two-way audio communication. For access control it also provides a contact closure in each direction for alarms or to open doors.

Two-way audio and signaling travel on the same coax as the camera’s video picture without affecting picture quality or other Pan and Tilt remote control systems. This system encodes the audio and signaling to make it tamper resistant. Any tampering with the coaxial cable would immediately be noticed on the video monitor by the operating personnel. The intercom can be installed in any B&W or Color CCTV video system, without having to run additional wires or cables.

The CC2R Camera-Com-2 Remote Station is used at the camera location. All that is required for installation is to loop the camera’s video through the Remote Station and connect the power supply and an 8 ohm speaker. You may use the same supply as the camera, 24 VAC.

Audio speech is detected by a built in microphone and processed to produce a steady volume. The Automatic Volume Control maintains the listening volume regardless of the sound level in the observed area. You will hear foot steps and shouts equally well. An external microphone can be used for covert installations. To send a contact closure back to the Base Station, connect a push button switch to the screw terminals provided on the Remote Station. A separate set of screw terminals are used to receive a contact closure from the Base Station. This system gives you one set of contact closures each way.

The CC2P Camera-Com-2 Base Station Mounting Panel occupies a 3.5” X 19” Rack Space at the monitor console. It will hold from 1 to 8 Base Stations. One CC2P Base Station Mounting Panel is required for each group of 8 Base Stations.

The CC2B Camera-Com Base Station is used at the monitor console to control the intercom system. To install the Base Station simply connect the incoming video cable from the camera Remote Station through to the Base Station and on to the monitor or other equipment. Then connect the power and an amplified speaker to monitor the audio. The amplified speaker will be used to monitor all of the channels. A built in microphone is used to communicate with the Remote Station. The Push to talk switch on the front panel has three functions. Push to Talk, Listen, and Audio Off. A push button on the front panel sends a contact closure to the Remote Station for opening doors or other signaling. Auxiliary contacts on the rear of the Base Station are used for other signaling.

The Base Station has a Call Light to indicate when a Remote Station has signaled. An audible indicator also sounds to let the personnel know that someone is calling. This feature is user selectable. This equipment provides the user with a complete two- way intercom system and two-way contact signaling that can be expanded to any number of stations.
