Four Zone Video Privacy Mask
The VPE-4 unit produces four user defined masking zones on any video channel to create areas of privacy on the video image. The zone is blocked so that operators are unable to see detail in the masked area. This can be used to meet the requirements of State and local rules regarding the use of video surveillance. It can be used to restore the presumption of privacy and still allow monitoring of sensitive areas. This low cost solution can be installed anywhere in the video path and works with existing cameras eliminating the need to buy special expensive cameras.
The ability to provide privacy on one camera without replacing the other equipment in the systems is a very cost effective solution to the privacy issue. When you have a privacy issue with any camera in your system or if a problem pops up later after installation this is a simple solution to solve the problem.
The masking zones can be set to any transparency level from totally blocked to almost completely transparent so that the operator can see a person behind the curtain like mask, but is unable to identify the private features of that person. This is particularly useful when using video motion detection without invading privacy.
This unit allows you to set the camera position for maximum security while still providing privacy for the neighbors. It will prevent the camera from seeing into an adjacent window or in applications such as jails and prisons it can be used to mask out the restroom area inside a holding cell.
