ANR572
STEREO AUDIO NOISE REDUCTION PROCESSOR

Santa Ana, California. FM SYSTEMS, INC. has developed a new noise reduction system that can reduce noise in program audio sources such as telephone call-in, old recordings, or video and audio tape by as much as 25 dB. This is a singled ended noise reduction system that does not depend on pre-processing at the point of program origination in order to reduce noise. This processor will reduce noise originating within the program source as well as noise introduced in the audio transmission system.

The HUSH circuitry in the ANR572 Achieves this outstanding noise reduction by selectively acting on noise through Downward Expansion and Dynamic Filtering according to the characteristics of the program material being transmitted at the time. Adaptive Threshold circuitry detects signal level changes and dynamically adjusts both the Dynamic Filter and the Downward Expander thresholds as needed, thus providing optimal noise reduction for any program source content.

A front panel Volume Unit (VU) meter enables the operator to set optimal input level while the output can be set to an Average Program Level (APL) of either 0, +4, or +8 dBm by jumpers on the circuit board.

Noise reduction performance may be monitored by observing the noise reduction L.E.D. meter on the front panel. The noise reduction circuitry may be temporarily bypassed with a switch on the front panel to enable the operator to perform a proof-of- performance listening test with actual program material.

This product features a detachable audio screw terminal connector for the stereo input and output signals. The balanced input has field selectable 600 Ohm or Hi-Z input impedance and the output is Low-Z to reduce the capacitive effects of long audio cables. Additional unbalanced RCA output connectors are provided for quality monitoring of the processed audio signal.

The ANR572 is a circuit card that mounts in a PMS500 Power Supply and Mainframe. The PMS500 Mainframe can hold up to 3 circuit cards.
